Carlos Martinez may be Out for the Season

Not good news - not good news at all.

What reliever Carlos Martinez thought would be nothing serious has turned into a possible season-ending injury.

According to a club official, Martinez's MRI Tuesday revealed significant damage to a ligament in his right elbow. Whether or not Martinez will require Tommy John surgery is uncertain, but Martinez's rookie season appears to be over after 6-2/3 innings.

Whether Martinez will undergo surgery depends on orthopedic surgeon James Andrews, who will perform his own exam today in his Birmingham, Ala., office.

Dr. Andrews is renowned in his field and hopefully it is not as bad as it looks now.  But if surgery has to be performed on the elbow, he is the right guy to do it.

We're wishing for the best Carlos.
