Flotsam and Jetsam

Ah yes, Friday.  I was actually going to post some of these as stories and then I came to my senses.   I have detective work to do and one has to set priorities.

So here we are with another thrilling installment of Flotsam and Jetsam.

First up:  If you live in the San Antonio area, you will want to mosey over to Seguin Saturday and meet some of the "Black Aces".  An auction is being held to benefit the Smokey Joe Williams Scholarship.

Dontrelle won't be in attendance but many items up for auction will have been autographed by the A-Train.  It's a worthy cause and a chance to meet some legends of the sport.  To all our San Antonio area friends, if you can go, it should be a good time.

Next taking their swings:  The Marlins annual caravan starts on Monday and last for six days.  This year's tour will even take the band of wanders down into the Keys.  If they have released a detailed schedule, I haven't seen it but maybe this will help:

In the third hole:  David Samson did an interview with the Business of Baseball.  It is mostly more of the same but he does recommend some baseball movies for your viewing pleasure.  I won't get into a critique of his taste but I have seen all of his suggestions and did enjoy them.  Now whether all of them are "baseball" movies, I will leave to another day.

Taking it home:  When there is a fire sale, everything must go and I mean everything.

The Marlins are auctioning off the car that Billy the Marlin drove around the stadium in 1997.  So if you believe you would look cool in a teal convertible, and I can't think of a reason why you wouldn't, put your bid in and see how it goes.

If someone from FishStripes wins - I want pictures, which will be proudly displayed on the site.  Last I saw it was up to $700, so good luck.

Aside: I didn't know MLB had auctions.

That's it for this weeks installment of Flotsam and Jetsam.
