If you get a chance to go to spring training keep an eye out for Mr. Vanden Hurk, he is making some waves down in Hawaii. Not that I expect the young man to make the big club coming out of spring training but he is someone who bears watching.
According to RotoWorld:
Rick Vanden Hurk pitched five innings of one-hit ball and fanned eight for Waikiki of the Hawaiian Winter League on Sunday.
Vanden Hurk, who spent most of last season rehabbing from Tommy John surgery, has a 3.60 ERA and a 63/17 K/BB ratio in 40 IP for Waikiki. The 21-year-old right-hander could quickly emerge as one of the Marlins' top prospects next season. He reaches the mid-90s with his fastball and has a very good curve, so though he has potential as a starter, the Marlins might want to see what he can do out of the pen.
