Open Thread and Ichthyomancy: Phillies at Marlins (10/1)

New, 13 comments

The Season Finale.

I would love to beat the Phillies in our last game of the year.

The Marlins starting pitcher is Dontrelle Willis.  The Phillies have on tap Brett Myers.

At least, they are the scheduled pitchers for today's game at the time I am writing this.

Game time is 1:05 p.m.

Willis is the team's best day time pitcher this season.  His ERA in the day is 2.42.  In contrast to his night time ERA of 4.59.

Myers has been pitching well down the stretch, posting a 2.68 ERA in September.

Oh, there is something else to pay attention to during today's game:

It's going to take some doing for Cabrera to win the NL batting title. With a .340 batting average, Cabrera trails Pittsburgh's Freddy Sanchez, who has a .343 average.

The race is so close that if Cabrera goes 2 for 4 today and Sanchez goes 0 for 3, Cabrera would win by percentage points.

The Pirates game starts at 1:35 p.m.

Ichthyomancy is ready to declare a winner.  Remember anyone can still win: if you are down by, say 50, there is a way to win it.  All you have to do is pick over 50 events that will happen during the game and if they all come true - You win.  No Problem.

Here's today's Ichthyomancy pick table:

FishStriper Attendance Player AAB
Al State
Bobbob 15,473 Cabrera SP: no runs in first 3 innings
Colombo 14,553 Willis Marlins: W by 3+ R, 4+ more H

Double B 17,869 Willis Marlins blow lead in 9th
