Vargas vs. Milton
Tonight's matchup of starting pitchers is a sobering reminder of just how bad things are for the Reds (pitching wise). They're rolling out enormously overpaid Eric Milton while Fish roll out Jason Vargas and his MLB minimum salary. Granted, Vargas received a healthy signing bonus just last year, but when you add it all in, he's a much less expensive option than Milton. Oh yeah, and he's better too.
I've taken in one game at Great American Ballpark, and it was a good one. When I visited Cinci last year for the SABR convention, we saw a game between the Cardinals and Reds. That game was highlighted by an over-the-wall catch by Jim Edmonds. Maybe we'll see JP inflict that same kind of pain on the Reds tonight.
