That's no knock on Jimmy Rollins. He's a good ballplayer. But Gonzalez is too. With Rollins signing this contract today, there are suddenly fewer attractive free agent options left on the market. Less supply and the same demand (from the 28 other ballclubs at least) generally leads to a higher price.
