Welcome to Fishstripes!

Welcome to FishStripes!  I'm proud to be a member of the SportsBLOGS family.

Some of you probably found your way here from my original site, The Book of Mike.  Others are probably (hopefully) new, so I'll tell you a little bit about what you can expect.

For the most part, we'll have pretty standard blog/diary fare.  There will be a game thread for each game, previews with an "insider" before each Marlins series, features on prospects, and much, much more.  In reality, it's all evolving, and I'd definitely appreciate any suggestions about what you'd like to see. Also, please make sure to try out the diary feature, which will let you make entries of your own - and with more detail than just the comments.

With regards to me, I'm a resident of Miami and a huge baseball fan.  Although I was born (in Illinois) and raised (in Arizona) as a White Sox fan, I write about the Marlins because, well - no one else really does.  If I had to choose between the two - and I did last year when the Sox visited South Florida to play the Marlins, I'd choose the White Sox in a heart beat.  But living in South Florida, it's much easier to follow the Marlins.  In addition to baseball, my other vices are alcohol, women, and the Miami Hurricanes (football and baseball mostly).  I also spend most of my days at a regular job, but that really doesn't come up much around here.

Before I start talking about puppies and my fondness for long walks on the beach, I'll stop.  If you do want to find out some more about me or what I've written before, check out my original site.  Otherwise just stick around here and enjoy the fun.  2005 should be a fun year in Marlin land, and if it doesn't turn out that way, we'll find ways to keep it interesting.
