LDS Open Thread: Day One

Yeah, yeah - the Marlins aren't in it. So what? It's still the playoffs. Let's talk about what's happening here.

Today is the first day of the post-season. As you can see from the schedule below, the start times for games were determined by market size and television ratings, and not geography. The Padres will start play today at 10 am their time, so it will be interesting to see how they respond. Baseball players, particularly those used to playing night games, live on different schedules than most of us. Many of them don't know what 10 am looks like.

Game One (1:09 Eastern): Padres (Peavy) at Cardinals (Carpenter)
Game Two (4:09 Eastern): Red Sox (Clement) at White Sox (Contreras)
Game Three (8:19 Eastern): Angels (Colon) at Yankeees (Mussina)

The day games are on ESPN. The night game is on FOX.

The Astros and Braves don't get started until tomorrow.

We weren't planning on doing ichthyomancy, at least not for points, in the playoffs - since the Marlins aren't in it. If there's interest in it though, we can definitely do it. Otherwise, please donate the fish that you would be using for ichthyomancy to the Red Cross.
