Scott Olsen - no pain

Scott Olsen is on track to be in the starting rotation early in the season.

At last there is some encouraging news regarding an injured Marlins' starting pitcher.
Scott Olsen threw pain-free during a bullpen session on Thursday, and the lefty is slated to throw a simulated game this weekend.

However, Olsen is not considered a likely candiate to pitch on Opening Day. Just having Olsen as one of its first four starters will provide a boost to the club.

Scott is scheduled to throw a simulated game on Sunday.  If all goes well, he will start the process of developing arm strength.  He probably won't rejoin the rotation until the second series of the season.

Which means one of the young guys may have to hold down the spot until he is ready to go.  Who that will be is anybody's guess, but I'm guessing VandenHurk.  Though it could be Volstad, Hernandez or Waechter.

If Olsen is ready by the fourth game of the season then whoever it is will likely inherit the fifth spot in the rotation.
