Odds to Win the 2007 World Series

Bodog Sportsbook took their best shot in December as to which team will win the 2007 World Series.  But now that the off-season has settled down and pitchers and catchers are due to report in about nine days, they have revised the odds and in a sense are ranking each team's off-season performance.

Here is the update:

Odds To Win 2007 World Series

Team Feb. Odds Dec. Odds
New York Yankees 7/2 4/1
Detroit Tigers 5/1 10/1
New York Mets 8/1 6/1
Chicago Cubs 8/1 12/1
Chicago White Sox 8/1 8/1
St Louis Cardinals 8/1 10/1
Los Angeles Angels 10/1 10/1
San Francisco Giants 10/1 50/1
Boston Red Sox 10/1 12/1
Los Angeles Dodgers 13/1 15/1
Toronto Blue Jays 15/1 15/1
Philadelphia Phillies 15/1 15/1
Oakland Athletics 20/1 15/1
Minnesota Twins 20/1 20/1
Cleveland Indians 28/1 20/1
San Diego Padres 30/1 22/1
Florida Marlins 35/1 28/1
Houston Astros 35/1 25/1
Atlanta Braves 35/1 30/1
Cincinnati Reds 45/1 33/1
Milwaukee Brewers 50/1 45/1
Texas Rangers 50/1 50/1
Arizona Diamondbacks 50/1 60/1
Kansas City Royals 70/1 90/1
Colorado Rockies 90/1 70/1
Baltimore Orioles 90/1 80/1
Seattle Mariners 100/1 70/1
Pittsburgh Pirates 100/1 80/1
Washington Nationals 150/1 150/1
Tampa Bay Devil Rays 200/1 150/1

The Marlins fall from grace probably has more to do with the Josh Johnson and Anibal Sanchez injures, than anything else.

But there is more:

Odds to win the National League Pennant.

Team Odds
New York Mets 3/1
Chicago Cubs 7/2
Los Angeles Dodgers 9/2
Philadelphia Phillies 6/1
St Louis Cardinals 6/1
San Francisco Giants 15/2
San Diego Padres 10/1
Houston Astros 16/1
Atlanta Braves 17/1
Florida Marlins 18/1
Milwaukee Brewers 18/1
Cincinnati Reds 20/1
Arizona Diamondbacks 20/1
Colorado Rockies 33/1
Pittsburgh Pirates 65/1
Washington Nationals 75/1

And finally,

The Odds to win the National League East

Team Odds
New York Mets 1/3
Philadelphia Phillies 4/1
Florida Marlins 6/1
Atlanta Braves 7/1
Washington Nationals 40/1

It is interesting that the Marlins have a better chance than the Braves to win the division but a slightly worse chance to win the pennant. Maybe it has something to do with playoff experience or extending the season longer and taking the young arms into an uncharted number of innings. Or it could mean that their superior, on paper, bullpen gives them an edge. Or possibly something else - you make the call.

If you are interested in seeing the odds for the other NL divisions or perhaps the AL click on the "update" link at the top and they are all listed at their website.
