Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

Do we have a Rumor

I'm not sure I am buying this and I have no idea about the credibility of the source.  This was posted late last night on a Marlins message board:

I just heard on the news that the City of Hialeah is in talks with the Marlins, and they have already approved the money which will help build the park.
They just said it on the spanish news Ch 51.
It was like late breaking news or something they had it first...

I realize that most of our community is the late night bar crowd and not the late night news watching crowd, but on the off chance - did anyone watch channel 51 last night?  And if you did, can you substantiate this?

Have no idea if this is true or not
But what are they doing with Hialeah Park (the old horse track)? There's a lot of land right there (even a Metrorail stop, I believe). At first I thought that sounded crazy, but it might work.

Rumor Partially Confirmed
According to the Miami Herald, the Marlins and Hialeah will talk with each other but no money has been committed to as of yet.

El Nuevo Herald
From a few weeks ago:

Translated (using babelfish, sorry):

The race course of Hialeah

In reference to the letter of Mr. Nerio Alvarez the Marlins in Hialeah? of past 10 of December in that it suggests them Marlins had a stage in the race course of Hialeah, I inform that that property is private, does not belong to the City of Hialeah and therefore the contributors do not pay any tax by the same one.

The race course of Hialeah was bought by the Brunetti family in 1977 and since then they administer it. Those are they that pay taxes by the land that occupies.

The 8 of November of the 2000 City of Hialeah made a referendum without legal value to know if the town endorsed the initiative of which the Marlins had a stage in our municipality and were approved by the 54,9% of the voters.

We are interested in that ball of great leagues in the County of Miami-Dade gambles and if as mayor we can be useful we are arranged to have conversations with the Marlins.

Under this administration it is our desire to look for the well-being of Hialeah and we are delivering attacks so that in the future the race course of Hialeah it has areas of sports, cultural, arts and other activities of interest for the community.

Julio Robaina

Mayor of Hialeah

translation
There are a few things wrong with the translation of course, but most of them are obvious, except for this one:

"delivering attacks" should be "making efforts"

That's funny
It would have been funnier if Samson's words had mistakenly been translated into "delivering attacks".
