Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

That's All Folks!

I don't know about you, but after last night's loss, I'm throwing in the towel on this season. The Marlins aren't mathematically eliminated - yet. But realistically, they're done.

They're "only" three games back. There are still eleven games to play. But they're playing without their shortstop. Their Gold Glove winning second baseman is playing despite an injury that would sideline most. So is their All-Star catcher. Their (former) star third baseman and center fielder have struggled all year. That's nothing new. But it is helping to keep the Fish out of the playoffs.

Sure, there's still a chance that they could pull off some miracle and end the year in a tie or a game ahead of the Astros (or Phillies). But it's not very likely.

I'd rather see these next eleven games go towards giving the likes of Andino, Hermida, Wilson, and Treanor an extended opportunity. I'd even like to see Encarnacion in center in some games that count (maybe 4-3-2-Juan should be resigned to play center and Pierre should be moved during the offseason).

There are eleven games left. Let's enjoy them while we can because it's going to be a long offseason for Marlins' fans.
