"You only get so many chances."
—Manager Jack McKeon, after his team couldn't score Tuesday in three innings in which it had the bases loaded.

"I'm trying to make him realize that they don't want to walk him. And if he is patient he will get plenty of good pitches to hit,'' McKeon said.
"But I guess it's gonna take a while for everything to sink in.''
"I’m getting tired of looking at this stuff. We’re better than that. It’s time to wake up," said an exasperated McKeon. "Maybe they can’t play. Maybe they’re not good enough. It’s up to them. They have another 25 games to show us they can play."
..."Sooner or later these guys have got to wake up. We’re not running tryout camps here," McKeon said. "They’ve got to start producing. This is the big leagues. You develop in the minor leagues, you win in the big leagues. I’m getting tired of saying the same thing every night. Maybe we’re not that good."
..."You alibi [that] they’re young. But bottom line is you’re either a winner or a loser, and you’ve got to shape up and let’s go," McKeon said.
It is undecided if Chris Coghlan will be brought up to the big leagues as a September callup. Coghlan, at Triple-A, has dealt with several injuries, including left knee inflammation.
Third-base prospect Matt Dominguez likely will get called up, but the team will wait until after the Minor League season ends on Sept. 5 before bringing up a majority of their Minor Leaguers.

Dontrelle Willis on Ricky Nolasco surpassing him for career leader in strikeouts:
"I'm happy for him," Willis said. "Records are made to be broken. I never thought I'd have a record to be broken. I'm definitely happy for him.
"It's a sign of longevity. Thank God that he's healthy most of the time. He's definitely a talented guy.
"It's ridiculous. I'm embarrassed and they should be, too, because they are better than that."
