Braden Looper retires

+

You remember Braden Looper, or at least you should. He was an important cog on the 2003 World Series team. Yeah, he was erratic, but still, he was one of the guys who made winning the Marlins second World Series Championship possible. Best of luck Braden.

Stanton's 500 ft home run

+

As you all know, when Mike Stanton finally made his Grapefruit League debut, he decided to hit the cover off the ball. Welcome back Mike. Joe Frisaro has the story

Royals trade Brett Carroll to the Brewers

1

I know that some of you are Brett Carroll fans and this is just to let you know that if you wish to follow his career - he is now with the Brewers.

Edwin on Nolasco "Huge improvement from the last outing,' manager Edwin Rodriguez said. "I don't want to say he's 100 percent ready yet, but after his next outing I'm pretty sure he will be ready for the season.'

Mike Stanton's eating habits

1

"Stanton fun fact. At 6-foot-5 1/2 and 250-pounds, Stanton is one of the most imposing players in the game. The 21-year-old's eating habits also are becoming legendary. Recently, he requested triple meat on hist fajitas. A midnight snack Stanton enjoys is cereal. He actually likes to mix up his cereal, and his favorite combo is Captain Crunch and Fruity Pebbles. He drinks two-percent milk." As my grandfather said: If you are going to work a mule, you have to feed it." I never really understood all of my grandfather's sayings. Nonetheless, mixing Captain Crunch with Fruity Pebbles. Dude? I guess if it works for you, have at it. But still....

Or at least something called the Answer Man does. Read away.

The Hardball Times asked Five questions about the Florida Marlins

+

Ben Pritchett does a pretty decent job of answering the questions. You should give it a look see. But I will say this, he is completely wrong about Ricky Nolasco and Anibal Sanchez. They are better pitchers than he is giving them credit.

Chris Coghlan's shoulder still sore

+

So they sent him to the minor league camp. "We want him to be on the [Minor League] field so he can play center field and work on his reaction on hit balls," Rodriguez said. "We want him to take at-bats. He has a sore shoulder. We don't want to put him in position where he has to make a strong throw from the outfield, and then he will get hurt more. "I saw that during the game yesterday. I said, 'We have to shut him down.'" He is expected to start the season for the Marlins in center. But he isn't going to be in playing shape if he does. This soreness may last for a while. Expect to see Boni getting some time in center at the start of the season. Yeah, I know, that is no way to start the season.

"It was awful. We embarrassed ourselves and we embarrassed the Marlins today. It was terrible,' (Gaby) Sanchez told reporters. "It was just bad baseball, awful baseball. There is no other way of looking at it.' "There's no excuse for dropping fly balls and missing cut-off men,' Sanchez said. "Edwin was out there and he was (ticked) off and he has every damn right to be,' Sanchez said. "We're supposed to be big-league ballplayers and we didn't even come close to playing like that.'
