My interview with Drew Fairservice on Getting Blanked podcast

We talked about Heath Bell, other free agent targets, Hanley Ramirez, and a healthy does of Mike Stanton. I'd like to thank Drew and the rest of the Getting Blanked cast for having me on. Hope to do this again sometime!

Heath Bell signs three-year deal with Marlins

As per Jayson Stark of ESPN.com. The deal is worth $27 million. For $9 million a year, it is not an awful deal, but my earlier point still stands: the team had more needs than at closer. Not a good use of money on the team's first deal. I'll have more on this tomorrow. UPDATE: Jayson Stark confirms the deal on ESPN.com.

Billy the Marlin in his new multi-colored swag

H/T to @TealMonster, who provided the Lockerz link. Apparently the fin is more multi-colored than this picture makes it out to be, but overall it isn't as awful as imagined (par for the course in this re-branding / re-coloring phase). Fish Stripers, your thoughts? UPDATE: Now with back view and snide commentary from the always funny Grant Brisbee of Baseball Nation.

Marlins initial offer to Jose Reyes was six years and $90M

According to Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi (H/T MLB Trade Rumors), the Marlins offered Reyes a six-year deal worth $90M. The math works out to $15M a season, which sounds a little on the low side for Reyes. FanGraphs readers predicted Reyes would make around $17M annually in free agency. What do you Fish Stripers think?

H/T SoFlaMarlins for the picture. It's not official yet, but looking at Emilio Bonifacio and Omar Infante wearing them pretty much seals it right?
