After winning both games of the home portion of the series with the Rays, the Miami Marlins head to St. Pete to take on the struggling Rays on Wednesday and Thursday nights. Tom Koehler will be on the mound for the Marlins, who are looking to win their third straight contest.
Pitching Matchup
PROJ ERA | FIP | ERA | MARLINS | RAYS | ERA | FIP | PROJ ERA |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
4.60 | 4.34 | 3.18 | Koehler | Price | 4.27 | 3.24 | 3.19 |
Tom Koehler has proven to be valuable at the back end of the Marlins' rotation, and will try to keep the Rays off balance as Randy Wolf and Henderson Alvarez did. In his last start, Koehler went seven innings, giving up three runs and walking four Braves while striking out five.
David Price went seven innings and gave up two runs while walking one and striking out six against the Red Sox.
Lineups
Miami needed just one run to top the Rays on Tuesday night, but will look score early against Price. Reed Johnson gets the start in left field and replaces Christian Yelich in the leadoff spot. Ed Lucas shifts over to third base, and Jeff Baker will start at first, giving Garrett Jones the day off against the lefty.
Donovan Solano will be at second base, and Jeff Mathis remains Miami's starting option behind the plate.
Notes
-Can the Marlins score late? The inability to add on hurt the team in the weekend series with Atlanta.
-Will Koehler pitch well? Koehler was solid against the Braves, but struggled two starts ago against the Brewers.
