The Miami Marlins are looking for Andrew Heaney to be successful in his first Major League start tonight against the New York Mets, as the Fish finish off their home stand with a four-game series against one of their division rivals. Opposite of Heaney is Zack Wheeler, another top prospect pitcher.

Andrew Heaney will make his long anticipated first start in his Major League career after dominating the minors at two levels this season. Marlins fans are expecting a polished, smooth pitcher, and that is exactly what they will get tonight against a hapless Mets lineup.

Meanwhile, Wheeler had a rough outing his last time out, but his 3.33 FIP shows that his peripherals, particularly the high strikeout rate, bode well. Miami just whiffed 11 times against Jake Arrieta, so this is not a good sign.

Notes

- Here is everything you need to know about Andrew Heaney in one convenient primer.

- What can we expect from Heaney? The last time a top Marlins pitching prospect faced a Mets pitching prospect, well, it was Jose Fernandez, and that was bad for the Mets.

- Will Miami's offense kick in, especially at the bottom of the order? The Fish have gotten very little from down there, but the return of Jarrod Saltalamacchia should help.

Bold Prediction: Marlins def. Mets 4-1
