Henderson Alvarez didn't fare incredibly well in his last start against the Braves, but will need to do so in order to succeed against a Mets lineup that can score runs consistently. In six innings against Atlanta, Alvarez gave up four runs and walked two while striking out four.

Veteran right hander Bartolo Colon will be on the mound for the Mets. Colon struggled in his last start against the Rockies, giving up seven runs in just four and two third innings pitched.

Bobby Abreu gets the night off for the Mets.

Notes

-How will Alvarez pitch? Henderson Alvarez's ability to throw strikes consistently has been questioned early, and after a rocky start against the Braves, a quality outing would save the bullpen a few innings.

-Will Miami need late offense? The Marlins have walked off twice on the current homestand, and have rallied when necessary.

Bold Prediction: Mets def. Marlins 8-4
