Coming off of a 6-3 victory on Friday night, the Miami Marlins will look to win the series and extend their winning streak in the second game of the three game series with the Dodgers on Saturday night. Jacob Turner will make his first start after returning from the disabled list.
Pitching Matchup
PROJ ERA | FIP | ERA | MARLINS | Dodgers | ERA | FIP | PROJ ERA |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
4.49 | 6.46 | 7.50 | Turner | Maholm | 4.74 | 5.19 | 4.17 |
Turner can struggle to throw strikes at times, and if he doesn't have command on Saturday night, the Dodgers' lineup will likely score quickly. Making his return from the disabled list, Turner should be good to go after suffering from a shoulder injury. In his only start of the season against the Rockies, Turner went six innings and gave up five runs while walking three.
Paul Maholm is coming off of a nice outing against the Rockies, during which he went seven innings and gave up two runs while walking one and striking out three.
Lineups
Scoring runs hasn't been a problem for the Marlins on their four game winning streak, and they may have a chance to do so against Maholm, who gave up five runs to the Phillies at the end of April. Reed Johnson replaces Christian Yelich in the leadoff spot, and Adeiny Hechavarria is slotted in the two hole.
Jeff Baker will get the start at second base against Maholm, and Jeff Mathis will give Jarrod Saltalamacchia a day off behind the plate.
Miami hasn't been great against lefties this year, but Maholm has an inflated ERA and can lose command at times.
Notes
-How will Turner perform? Turner was solid on his rehab assignment, and will look to recreate his spring success starting on Saturday.
-Can the Marlins stay hot? Miami is on a four game winning streak, and a win on Saturday would give them consecutive series wins against quality opponents.
