The Miami Marlins love playing games at home, and they'll get another shot as the team will host the Milwaukee Brewers for a three-game set over the Memorial Day weekend. The Fish kick things off with Tom Koehler facing Marco Estrada in the first of the series.
Pitching Matchup
PROJ ERA | FIP | ERA | MARLINS | Brewers | ERA | FIP | PROJ ERA |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
4.58 | 4.12 | 2.25 | Koehler | Estrada | 3.64 | 5.03 | 4.31 |
Tom Koehler has a tiny ERA but the potential to explode, as he has not changed his strikeouts or walks at all since last year. He still pounds the strike zone, which is necessary for a guy with limited strikeout potential, but his fastball still is subpar, though with improvement this season.
Estrada posted a nice campaign last year but is allowing more homers than you would like this season, and that is hurting his cause in 2014. Last time out, he gave up two dingers to the Chicago Cubs en route to a four-run outing in five innings.
Lineup
The Malrins will go with their usual lineup after having to shuffle around for a few days to give everybody some much needed rest. Derek Dietrich gets back into the lineup, as does Garrett Jones now that we are away from lefties. Casey McGehee gets a chance to see his former team for the first time since returning from Japan.
Notes
- Will Miami continue to score runs at home? The Fish put up 14 runs in one evening versus the Phillies and scored 23 runs total in their previous series, and the Brewers' starters are not exactly ace-caliber pitchers.
- Ryan Braun is out with an injury, as he strained his side yesterday and will not play tonight.
- I will not be around tonight unfortunately, but catch me and the rest of the crew tomorrow night for the dual viewing of the Marlins and Heat!
