MLB Scores: Miami Marlins 14, Philadelphia Phillies 5

The Miami Marlins defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 14-5 on Wednesday night. Nathan Eovaldi went six innings and Miami's offense was dominant against Philadelphia's bullpen.

A night after struggling to get a key hit with runners in scoring position and less than two outs, Miami's offense thrived in a 10-5 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night.

As they did on Tuesday night, the Phillies got off to a quick start and scored twice in the top of the first. Carlos Ruiz reached on an error, and Ryan Howard drove him in with an RBI double to left field. Marlon Byrd added an RBI single to make it a 2-0 contest.

But facing Kyle Kendrick, Miami tied the inning in the bottom of the frame following a Casey McGehee RBI single to left center field and a Garrett Jones sacrifice fly to left.

Giancarlo Stanton drove in Derek Dietrich, who tripled with one out in the third, with a ground ball to second base, but the Phillies got on the board on a Tony Gwynn Jr. RBI single against Nathan Eovaldi in the top of the fourth.

In his six innings, Eovaldi gave up three runs (one earned) while walking one and striking out two.

Miami was able to score effectively against Kendrick, and added two more in the fourth when Marcell Ozuna and Christian Yelich added RBI singles.

After adding another run in the sixth, Ozuna's seventh inning grand slam to left field against Jeff Manship gave MIami a 10-3 lead, and Miami added four more against Luis Garcia in the bottom of the eighth.

Mike Dunn pitched a scoreless inning in relief, and Carter Capps gave up two runs in the top of the eighth. Kevin Slowey pitched a scoreless top of the ninth.
