The Miami Marlins would like their home stand to go a bit better than it has started so far, and the Fish will look to get back on the right foot with hopefully a win over the Philadelphia Phillies. It will be Nathan Eovaldi, who is looking to bounce back from a series of rough starts, versus Marlins killer Kyle Kendrick.
Pitching Matchup
PROJ ERA | FIP | ERA | MARLINS | Phillies | ERA | FIP | PROJ ERA |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
3.96 | 3.21 | 3.62 | Eovaldi | Kendrick | 3.96 | 4.78 | 4.45 |
Nathan Eovaldi will look to spring back into the right form after two straight struggling starts on the Marlins' West Coast road trip, He pitching poorly versus the San Diego Padres and was bombed by the San Francisco Giants; he struck out just five versus six walks and allowed eight runs in 9 1/3 innings.
Kyle Kendrick is who he is at this stage of his career, yet somehow he still kills the Marlins regularly. Can Miami solve those Kendrick magicks?
Lineup
Ed Lucas gives Adeiny Hechavarria a well-deserved (and much-needed for the offense) day off, as he'll start at shortstop for the first time all year. Everyone else is business as usual against the righty Kendrick. Marcell Ozuna's May slump has pushed him down to the eighth spot in the order.
Notes
- I'll be here tonight, in it for the win. Who's with me?
- Can Miami avoid another starting pitching disaster after the last week and a half held little hope? Captain EO will have to prove he has the right stuff for the job once again.
Bold Prediction: Marlins def. Phillies 3-2
