MLB Scores: Washington Nationals 6, Miami Marlins 3

The Miami Marlins fell to the Washington Nationals 6-3 in the final game of the three game series on Wednesday night. Jose Fernandez gave up three runs and Miami's struggled late in the game.

The bullpen wasn't expected to be a problem for the Miami Marlins in 2014, but after Miami's relievers struggled during the eight game losing streak. Mike Dunn and A.J. Ramos gave up three runs late and the Nationals won the series with a 6-3 victory on Wednesday night.

For the second consecutive night, the Marlins got off to a quick start, this time against Nationals starter Tanner Roark. After not recording a hit through the first three innings, the Marlins rallied against Roark in the fourth. Garrett Jones and Casey McGehee singled to open the inning, and Derek Dietrich hit a three-run home run to give the Marlins a 3-0 lead.

Miami left Marcell Ozuna on third base with less than two outs in the fith, and Roark limited the Marlins' offense in his six and a third innings.

Jose Fernandez was looking to bounce back from a poor start against the Phillies, and with the exception of one pitch, did so. He was dominant early, but because of a pair of defensive mistakes by catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia, had to pitch out of a jam.

Jose Lobaton doubled and Roark reached on a fielder's choice before Jayson Werth hit a three-run home run to tie the game at three.

In seven innings, Fernandez gave up four hits and three runs, none of which were earned, while striking out ten and not walking a batter.

Mike Dunn relieved Fernandez in the eighth and immediately gave up a home run to Zach Walters to give Washington a one run lead, and A.J. Ramos gave up a two-RBI single to Ian Desmond to make it a 6-3 contest.

Miami couldn't rally against Tyler Clippard, Drew Storen, or Rafael Soriano.

The Marlins are off on Thursday before facing the Mariners in an interleague weekend matchup.
