The Miami Marlins fell to the Washington Nationals 10-7 on Wednesday night. Jayson Werth's late grand slam fueled the Washington comeback.

Having been shut out by South Florida product Gio Gonzalez on Tuesday night, the Miami Marlins sought runs on Wednesday against Nationals starter Jordan Zimmermann, and the offense responded early in a 10-7 loss.

Christian Yelich singled and Derek Dietrich walked to open the game, and Giancarlo Stanton followed with an RBI-single before a Garrett Jones sacrifice fly gave the Marlins anj early edge.

Zimmermann struggled to keep the ball down, and Miami's offense was able to capitalize. Adeiny Hechavarria tripled to open the second, and Christian Yelich singled him home before Derek Dierich hit his first home run of the season to give Miami a 5-0 edge. A Casey McGehee single led to Zimmermann's early departure.

In his first start after Jacob Turner was placed on the disabled list, Brad Hand struggled to keep his pitch count down. Adam LaRoche and Ryan Zimmerman singled in the fourth, and Bryce Harper's three-run home run to right field made it a 5-3 game and led to Hand's departure.

In his three and a third innings, Hand gave up three runs while walking four and striking out two. Miami's offense went dormant, having difficulty adding insurance runs against Nationals reliever Craig Stammen, and Kevin Slowey yielded four runs to Washington in the fifth and sixth innings which gave the Nationals their first lead.

Arquimedes Caminero left the bases loaded with one out in the sixth, and Jarrod Saltalamacchia hit his first home run as a Marlin off of Drew Storen to deep center field in the seventh to tie the game at six.

With the bases loaded and one out following a Dietrich error and an intentional walk, Carlos Marmol gave up a grand slam to Jayson Werth before Rafael Soriano closed the gave for the Nationals.
