MLB Scores: Miami Marlins 0, Cleveland Indians 2

Robert Mayer-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Marlins could not accrue much offense against Scott Kazmir and the Cleveland Indians, as the Tribe got just enough out of Nathan Eovaldi and the Fish to win the game 2-0.

Attendance: 25,077
Hero of the Game: Nathan Eovaldi (0.225 WPA)
Goat of the Game: Giancarlo Stanton (-0.144 WPA)
Play of the Game: Michael Brantley singled in the eighth inning. Mike Aviles scored. (-0.111 WPA)

The Miami Marlins became the latest victims of the Scott Kazmir comeback tour.

Kazmir struck out seven Marlins and walked just two along with two hits allowed in six innings. The bullpen for the Cleveland Indians then came in and struck out five more with just two hits allowed in the remaining three innings to easily dispatch the Marlins 2-0. For Kazmir, it is just another excellent start in a surprise return to decent-ness after three seasons of seemingly lost skills.

For the Fish, it is yet another shutout in which they only scored four hits and three walks versus 12 strikeouts. Among the culprits included Giancarlo Stanton (0-for-4, two strikeouts), Donovan Solano (0-for-4, two strikeouts), and Jake Marisnick (0-for-3, two strikeouts).

Meanwhile, Nathan Eovaldi put up a solid performance attempting to keep the Fish in it. Eovaldi struck out only two batters with one walk, and he kept his velocity up in this game. Eovaldi was throwing at an average of 97.6 mph, one of his higher-recorded values this season. Clearly Eovaldi had his heater working, but his secondary stuff barely made a dent; while he got six swings and misses in 76 fastballs, he got only one on his 18 sliders.
