The Miami Marlins are looking to bounce back after a disappointing outing in last night's 4-1 loss against the St. Louis Cardinals. Here to help is Nathan Eovaldi, who may have had the ugliest six shutout innings in team history in his last outing. He will go up against Joe Kelly.
Pitching Matchup
Proj Win% | Proj ERA | FIP | ERA | Marlins | Cardinals | ERA | FIP | Proj ERA | Proj Win% |

.410 | 4.79 | 4.40 | 2.00 | Eovaldi | Kelly | 3.86 | 4.25 | 4.23 | .469 |
I still believe in Nathan Eovaldi and his 96 mph fastball, but he needs to do a better job placing it than he did against the San Diego Padres, as his last outing was bereft of strikeouts. He still managed a shutout and averaged 96 on the fastball, but that was down from 97 mph in his first two starts, so if anything, it would be nice to see him cooking with even more gas.
Joe Kelly has been decent, but he's not among the best Cardinals starters. This may be the Marlins' best chance for a win.
Lineup
Order | Player | Proj wOBA vs. RHP |
---|---|---|
1 | Justin Ruggiano | .314 |
2 | Placido Polanco | .278 |
3 | Giancarlo Stanton | .394 |
4 | Logan Morrison | .355 |
5 | Marcell Ozuna | .301 |
6 | Derek Dietrich | .306 |
7 | Adeiny Hechavarria | .270 |
8 | Rob Brantly | .296 |
9 | Pitcher | --- |
Ed Lucas and Jeff Mathis, eater of worlds, get breaks while Placido Polanco and Rob Brantly pick up starts. Otherwise, it's the same lineup that looked silly last night but is the best we've got.
