The Miami Marlins squeezed out a win while I was away in last night's victory over the Washington Nationals, and tonight they will have a better matchup with Jose Fernandez on the mound versus the failing Dan Haren,
Pitching Matchup
Proj Win% | Proj ERA | FIP | ERA | Marlins | Nationals | ERA | FIP | Proj ERA | Proj Win% |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
.532 | 3.69 | 3.23 | 2.83 | Fernandez | Haren | 6.00 | 4.93 | 4.27 | .464 |
The game threads have had less preview than usual as of late, and that is my fault for having been working usually during the game starts. But this matchup is worth pointing, if only because of its lopsided nature. Fernandez is heading to his first All-Star Game on Tuesday, while Dan Haren may be on his last major league legs.
Lineup
Order | Player | Proj wOBA vs. RHP |
---|---|---|
1 | Justin Ruggiano | .314 |
2 | Ed Lucas | --- |
3 | Giancarlo Stanton | .394 |
4 | Logan Morrison | .355 |

6 | Derek Dietrich | .306 |
7 | Adeiny Hechavarria | .270 |
8 | Jeff Mathis | .255 |

Aside from the immortal Jeff Mathis, this lineup is not going to get much better, I suppose.
Notes
- I'll be here for tonight's game after a week-long absence due to work scheduling.
Bold Prediction: Marlins def. Nationals 4-2
