Triple-A: New Orleans Zephyrs
L 2-9 @ Memphis Redbirds
Matt Downs, 2B: 1-for-3, 2B
Doug Mathis, SP: 4.0 IP, 9 H, 9 R, 8 ER, 4 BB, 5 SO, 2 HR
The Zephyrs couldn't withstand the Redbirds offense, including Cardinals top prospects Kolten Wong and Oscar Taveras. Taveras was rated the third best prospect in the minors by Baseball America. He is batting .316/.352/.478 for Memphis.
L 4-5 @ Memphis Redbirds (Completion of suspended game)
Nick Green, SS: 2-for-3, 2 R, 2B
Kyle Skipworth, C: 0-for-3, 2 SO
A.J. Battisto, SP: 3.0 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 4 SO, HR
Double-A: Jacksonville Suns
L 0-10 @ Birmingham Barons
Robert Morey, SP: 3.1 IP, 6 H, 8 R, 8 ER, 5 BB, 3 SO, 2 HR
The Suns offense proved completely inept yesterday, generating only two hits.
Danny Black continues to struggle in Double-A. The 24-year-old is batting .151/.261/.203 in 34 games this year, after batting .314/.375/.396 in Jupiter last year. Black doesn't have any power to speak of, but the lack of hits this year is unusual.
High Class A: Jupiter Hammerheads
W 3-1 @ Brevard County Manatees
Justin Nicolino, SP: 5.0 IP, 3 H, R, 4 BB, 4 SO
Despite walking four batters, Justin Nicolino turned in another good performance. The left-hander has pitched at least five innings without allowing more than one earned run for seven consecutive starts. He holds a 2.24 ERA on the season.
Low Class A: Greensboro Grasshoppers
L 2-5 @ Lakewood BlueClaws
Yordy Cabrera, 3B: 0-for-3, 2 SO
Mason Hope, SP: 4.1 IP, 3 H, 5 R, 3 BB, 2 SO
The Greensboro defense was spectacularly awful yesterday, allowing six errors. None of Mason Hope's five runs were earned. His season ERA fell to 4.17. After an ugly 6.75 ERA April, Hope has started to improve in recent weeks. He is still walking too many batters, however.
W 5-2 @ Lakewood BlueClaws (Makeup of postponed game)

Anthony Gomez, 2B: 3-for-4
