Triple-A: New Orleans Zephyrs
L 2-3 @ Sacramento River Cats
Bryan Petersen, RF: 1-for-2, 2 BB, RBI
Matt Neil, SP: 6 IP, 2 H, 2 R, ER, 3 BB, 3 K
Chris Hatcher, RP: 1.0 IP, 2 H, 2 K
Playing against the Sacramento Rivercats' talented lineup, the Zephyrs fell just short on Monday night. Matt Neil pitched well, but Jonathan Albaladejo couldn't find a way to keep Scott Moore from scoring the go-ahead run in the seventh. The Zephyrs drop to 18-24 on the season.
Double-A: Jacksonville Suns
L 3-4 @ Mississippi Braves
Mississippi scored a lone run in the bottom of the eighth to defeat Jacksonville. Christian Yelich had another nice day, and showed off his speed on the basepaths. Mark Canha, who has had a very disappointing year so far, hit just his fourth homer of the season. That homer was just his first extra-base hit in his last ten games.
High Class-A: Jupiter Hammerheads
W 4-1 vs. Daytona Cubs
Facing a talented lineup, Andrew Heaney struck out nine and didn't allow an earned run. Heaney didn't make it five innings, but he struck out top prospects Javier Baez and Jorge Soler swinging. That says something to Heaney's arsenal and strikeout potential.
At the plate, Brent Keys had another multi-hit game, and Austin Barnes drove in two with a pinch-hit double. Also of note, Logan Morrison went 2-for-5 on his first day of his rehab assignment.
Low Class-A: Greensboro Grasshoppers
L 3-12 @ Hagerstown Suns
Cameron Flynn, LF: 2-for-4, HR (2), 3 RBI
Matt Juengel, 3B: 0-for-1, 3 BB
Mason Hope, SP: 2.2 IP, 6 H, 8 R, 4 ER, 4 BB, 2 K
Mason Hope had another rough start, this time not even making it through three innings. In a game which the Grasshoppers Manager Jorge Hernandez and Yordy Cabrera were both ejected, one has to wonder if Hope wasn't getting the calls he usually gets. Nonetheless, Hope gave up a three-run homer in the first inning and never settled into a groove after that.
On the bright side, Cameron Flynn continued his hot streak, hitting a three-run homer in the ninth. Flynn is hitting .485/.585/.727 in his last ten games.
