The Miami Marlins got off to a nice start in their four-game set against the Milwaukee Brewers, and now the team gets to go for game number two against the Brew Crew with Wade LeBlanc making a surprise start on the mound against Shaun Marcum.
Pitching Matchup
| Proj Win% | Proj ERA | FIP | ERA | Marlins | Brewers | ERA | FIP | Proj ERA | Proj Win% |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| --- | --- | 3.45 | 2.49 | LeBlanc | Marcum | 3.35 | 3.76 | --- | --- |
Wade Leblanc makes the start tonight, as Ozzie Guillen decided to give scheduled starter Jacob Turner a few days of rest to keep him fresh during September in what is sure to be his largest workload of his professional career. Of course, with LeBlanc doing as well as he has, he is also auditioning for a rotation role next season if the Marlins cannot fill their fifth starting slot one way or another, so there is plenty at stake for him as well.
Lineup
| Order | Player | Proj wOBA vs. RHP |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Gorkys Hernandez | .260 |
| 2 | Donovan Solano | .275 |
| 3 | Jose Reyes | .340 |
| 4 | Giancarlo Stanton | .379 |
| 5 | Carlos Lee | .324 |
| 6 | Justin Ruggiano | .324 |
| 7 | Rob Brantly | --- |
| 8 | Donnie Murphy | .275 |
The lefty lineup makes a return once again in confusing fashion. Are Bryan Petersen and Greg Dobbs injured or just need two days of rest? Not that it matters, as the hitters being thrown out there are not a whole lot worse than Petersen and Dobbs, but the lineup versus righties is the Marlins' best, and they are not throwing them out there despite resting them on Labor Day.
Bold Prediction: Brewers def. Marlins 4-3
