Heath Bell and the "Ozzie Issue"

As most of you have probably seen, Heath Bell is unhappy with with Ozzie Guillen as a manager

Per CBSports

"It's hard to respect a guy that doesn't tell you the truth or doesn't tell you face-to-face," Bell told The Dan Sileo Show on 560 WQAM in Miami (via ESPN.com). "There's probably reasons why."

Yet, in the same interview, Bell, who didn't mention Guillen by name said, "I'm not going to be two-faced. I'm not going to sneak around your back and say this and that." And then he continued to say this and that.

Which, apparently isn't what they have, at least according to Bell."We need a guy that leads us that everybody respects and looks up to," Bell said. "That's what we need."

Heath Bell is publicly expressing his dissatisfaction with Ozzie as a manager. He doesn't think Ozzie has the respect of the Marlins' players and he explicitly states that he finds it hard to give him respect.

At least that is what Heath Bell seems to believe. NOT quite the belief of other Marlins. Namely Justin Ruggiano and Brett Hayes.

Initially we see that Justin Ruggiano finds this whole news story "ridiculous." Obviously he does not agree with the sentiments expressed by Heath Bell. He even further clarifies his statements with a response to one of his followers.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-in-reply-to="250369665791045633"><p>@<a href="https://twitter.com/fadedwight">fadedwight</a> this is one persons opinion. We have a very close locker room.</p>— Justin Ruggiano (@justinruggiano) <a href="https://twitter.com/justinruggiano/status/250370050433875968" data-datetime="2012-09-24T23:04:06+00:00">September 24, 2012</a></blockquote>

Justin Ruggiano is claiming that Heath Bell is alone in his statements against Ozzie Guillen.

Brett Hayes, who hasn't been with the MLB team since mid-August, responded and added credibility of Ruggiano's statements saying

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Hahaha the irony. absolutely rediculous RT “@<a href="https://twitter.com/justinruggiano">justinruggiano</a>: This is ridiculous.<a href="http://t.co/qZKdFB1f" title="http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/blog/eye-on-baseball/20354185/heath-bell-isnt-happy-with-ozzie-guillen-either">cbssports.com/mlb/blog/eye-o…</a>”</p>— Brett Hayes (@bretthayes9) <a href="https://twitter.com/bretthayes9/status/250374641372262400" data-datetime="2012-09-24T23:22:20+00:00">September 24, 2012</a></blockquote>

(yes, he did correct his typo)

If these tweets are to be believed, Heath Bell is doing a comically bad job representing the Marlins players to the Media.

Of course I could be reading too much into this, maybe Brett Hayes and Justin Ruggiano find something else funny in this situation (there is some irony in bad mouthing someone behind their back about how they bad mouth you behind your back) ...but for now, It looks like Heath Bell is in the minority on the "Ozzie issue."

The very existence of an "Ozzie issue" could prove to be a fairly presumptuous presumption.
