#Marlins moves: Dan Jennings optioned to NOLA; Brad Hand recalled; Chris Hatcher added as 26th man for today's doubleheader
The 22-year-old Hand, who has a 3.66 ERA and 8.2 K/9 in twenty-two starts at Triple-A this year, will make his first start of the season for the Marlins this afternoon against the Nationals. Hand made twelve starts for Miami last season, putting up a 4.20 ERA in sixty innings of work.
Jennings, 25, has had moderate success in two short stints with the Fish this season. Making his major league debut in late April, the left-hander has amassed a 3.27 ERA in eleven appearances.
Hatcher, 27, essentially replaces Jennings in the Marlins' pen, giving the team a much-needed fresh arm for their doubleheader today. A new rule for the 2012 season allows teams to add a 26th man to their roster for a day-night doubleheader, making room for Hatcher.
