Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports that the Miami Marlins will indeed debut prized pitching prospect Jacob Turner, acquired in the Detroit Tigers trade that sent Anibal Sanchez and Omar Infante to the Tigers, on Wednesday's doubleheader against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Fish have the doubleheader in the first place due to an odd scheduling conflict with the Diamondbacks involving too many games played in a certain time period. The Diamondbacks were supposed to have a day off, but they didn't get it until this doubleheader was set up.

The Marlins had a previous doubleheader that coincided to a degree with Jacob Turner's turn in the Triple-A New Orleans rotation, but the Marlins opted instead to promote Brad Hand to make that start. Hand promptly allowed seven runs on six walks and six hits in less than four innings and was immediately demoted.

So the Marlins will turn to Turner, who had a 1.98 ERA in 27 1/3 innings in Triple-A New Orleans but just a 4.30 FIP due to a poor 1.33 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Turner's performance in Triple-A this year has been disappointing, but his strikeout rates should go up given his decent whiff rates. Marlins fans will get a chance to see if Turner can deliver starting this Wednesday.
