The Miami Marlins are actively eyeing the trade market for outfielders, reports Joe Frisaro of MLB.com.

The Marlins are exploring what options are available, internally and outside the organization. They'd also like to see if a number of their regulars start picking it up. Serious trade talks usually start in July. The team, obviously, has to make sure they don't fall too far off the pace in June.

Frisaro speculates that the Marlins could consider Denard Span of the Minnesota Twins, Peter Bourjos of the Los Angeles Angels, and Carlos Lee of the Houston Astros. Earlier this week, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports said Miami could target Philadelphia Phillies center fielder Shane Victorino.

Miami has been tied to outfielders since centerfielder Emilio Bonifacio hit the disabled list during the middle of May. Frisaro reports that Bonifacio could be out until the All-Star break.

Frisaro notes it’s important for the Marlins to have speed in their outfield, particularly in center, which made Bonifacio an appealing option. For this reason he could imagine the club pursuing speedsters such as Span and Bourjos. The Twins are expected to sell this summer and the Angels face a logjam in their outfield.

If the Marlins decide to add more of a power bat to their outfield and forgo speed, Frisaro believes the club could look to the Astros' Lee. The 36-year-old is in the final year of his contract, but he’s also making $18.5 million this season.
