Where was this brand of exciting Miami Marlins play all season?

The Miami Marlins used home runs by Gorkys Hernandez and Rob Brantly to fuel them to an early 3-0 lead. Jacob Turner had another solid outing, striking out four batters and walking just one unintentionally in 7 2/3 innings pitched. The Marlins had almost reached the eighth inning without feeling close to threatened by the New York Mets.

And yet, Turner was left out a few hitters too long, and the dynamic duo of Michael Dunn and Heath Bell, aka Mini-Mayhem and Mayhem himself, arrived. A few batters later, Dunn, Bell, and another poor block by Brantly allowed three runs to score and the Mets to tie the game.

But the Fish did not cave. Steve Cishek suffered a major scare with a runner on third and one out but struck out the next batter and found his way out. Ryan Webb finished the tenth with a strikeout to leave the bases loaded with Mets. And in the 11th inning, just before I left, the Marlins offense struck again in the form of a Jose Reyes triple followed shortly by a single by Donovan Solano, who had previously been hitless with four strikeouts. The Marlins walked off.

Among the folks celebrating was Adam Greenberg, who made his appearance in the sixth inning and struck out against R.A. Dickey. But for him, it was a spectacular win in more ways than one.
