Gaby Sanchez was chosen to represent the Florida Marlins in the 2011 All-Star Game.
The Marlins will be represented at the 2011 All-Star Game by their homegrown first baseman, Gaby Sanchez.
This year's Midsummer Classic will be a first for the 27-year-old Sanchez, who was named to the National League team as a manager's pick by the Giants' Bruce Bochy. The All-Star Game is set for 8 p.m. ET on July 12 at the D-backs' Chase Field in Phoenix.
Gaby has been the Marlins most consistent hitter this season and is on pace to set a number of career best in batting average, home runs, runs scored, on base percentage, walks and OPS. Also, if he picks up the pace a little he will set a career mark for doubles in a season.
Gaby may be the Marlins only representative to the classic, but he deserves to be there not just because the Marlins get a player on the team but because he actually earned the right to be known as an All-Star.
Congratulations Gaby, richly deserved.
