Was E-Rod knocking on our "Vets" or FO?

I was on vacation this weekend, so the news of ERod resigning got to me via a text message.  I automatically assumed he had been fired, much like I'm sure many of you.  Then when I saw "resigns" in the headline, I figured it was resigning with a wink and a nod to save some face for the organization and himself.  This also appears not to be the case...

Now I'm reading the statement from him and the transcript from a radio show this morning, and it seems he takes some shots at the team and front office.  At least in my mind.  Yes, we are a young team, but guys like Helms have always been considered a valuable veteran presence in our clubhouse.  We also brought in Dobbs for that reason... yet we have this:

I think it was that we were missing that veteran voice, veteran influence in the clubhouse that would take charge of that because as a coach and as a manager there’s so much you can say or do.  So sometimes the veteran presence in the clubhouse really helps.

I don't know whether he's taking a shot at those guys or what, but then he seems to indicate it was the front offices doing, and that he didn't think that they would change it:

I will ask for a balance of young guys with talent and veteran guys that will have more of a voice in the clubhouse, and veteran guys that will guide those youngsters through tough times.  Because like I said before, there’s so much that a coach or manager can say.  Coming from a player – a buddy, a teammate – [to] the youngster, he will have more effect.  I think that combination should be – if you look back on teams that have been successful – that combination has to be there.

You would think, the way we were competing, if he asked to make a move for some vets they would have tried, but I never heard of any rifts... Just interesting comments...
