In spring training camp the Marlins are now down to 41.
Alex Sanabia and Sean West were optioned to Triple-A, while Shawn Hill and Tom Koehler were reassigned to Minor League camp. New Orleans is where they likely will wind up.
Also on Wednesday, outfielder Chris Lubanski was released. Catchers Kyle Skipworth and Vinny Rottino were reassigned to Minor League camp, relievers Steve Cishek and Dustin Richardson and outfielder Bryan Petersen were optioned to New Orleans, and Sandy Rosario was optioned to Double-A Jacksonville.
The Marlins have moved the pitchers they feel are the ones to bring up if something goes wrong. It appears, at least at the start of the season, the deep depth will be in the Crescent City. The team just wants to stretch them out in the minor league version of spring training.
If the Fish get lucky, we won't see any of them until the September callups. Don't count on that.
