It is reported that Fredi Gonzalez has turned downed the chance to be considered by the Cubs to be their next manager. Can't say I blame him.
Since I did ex-Marlins players info yesterday, why not ex-manager info today? It makes sense to me. Though I may be the only one it does.
Anyway, Fredi is holding out for the Braves job.
Former Florida Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez has turned down the chance to interview for theChicago Cubs' managerial vacancy, according to AOL FanHouse.
Major League Baseball sources have told ESPNChicago.com that Gonzalez is waiting for the Braves' season to play out and will more than likely be offered the Atlanta job.
I will be very surprised if Fredi isn't named as the successor to Bobby Cox. While those will be very tough shoes to fill, Fredi may be able to pull it off. But in order to do so, he will need to get more animated in his discussions with the umpires on the field. The Braves fans expect their manager to be thrown out of the game at least a half of a dozen times a year. And that is something he needs to work on.
Of course, we wish him the best.*
*Until whatever team he manages faces the Marlins, then all bets are off.
