The Marlins are on their final regular season trip out to the Wild, Wild West.  First up, the team will play four against the absolutely red hot, second place Giants.

Ricky Nolasco takes the hill for the Marlins.  Ricky pitched very well in his last start going 8 innings, allowing 2 runs on just 4 hits.  The outing would've been fantastic except for the home run ball he served up.  Strangely Ricky has pitched better on the road this season than at home, albeit only slightly better.  If he is on, he can shut down anybody.

Barry Zito is on tap for the Giants.  You can leave out the part about him being outstanding in his last two starts; it wouldn't have mattered if he had stunk up the joint.  Zito is a soft-tossing lefty and he has just owned the Marlins in the past.  Zito's signature pitch is a 12 to 6 curve ball which is fun to watch, except when playing the Marlins.

This game could very easily turn into a pitching duel.

Ichthyomancy is ready for Midnight Baseball.

He definitely deserves NL Rookie of the Year

If he keeps this pace up. Strasburg’s gonna get shut down after a handful of starts from now, and Heyward just isn’t matching the shear production of Posey. Even Gaby’s status is slipping…

I would rather have Ricky with a broken back pitching to anyone than Tank.

by craig on Jul 27, 2010 12:31 AM EDT reply actions

so ill be the one to ask

whos better pinto or tank???

pinto walked a lot of guys but never gave up HRs

by byoung on Jul 27, 2010 12:31 AM EDT reply actions

Pinto also slowed down the pace of the game to a grinding halt, which frustrates position players to no end

And yeah, Pinto didn’t give up many long-balls, but a lefty who can’t get lefties out is of little use in the pen.

by byoung on Jul 27, 2010 12:53 AM EDT up reply actions

I'd leave Paulino in the 8th slot. LoMo 7th

but I don’t know from the teams listed as trade partners if we can get a major league ready reliever from any of them.

by craig on Jul 27, 2010 12:56 AM EDT up reply actions

same difference

basically my point is lomo could provide more/less same production as cantu has this year; stanton/cody could be better at 5th spot than cantu; & most mlb relievers could replace half of the guys in our pen

Good game for you all

Bad game for us. But you all have some troopers here, staying up so late for the game.

BTW, every time I see Leo Nunez, I think “LOL ROYALS.”

Aaron King is still my homeboy... iffy mechanics and all

McFAQ for all you newcomers out there.
