Open Thread and Ichthyomancy: Mets at Marlins (6/30)
New York Mets at Miami Marlins, Jun 30, 2010 7:05 PM EDT
Breakout the brooms Fish fans 'cause the Marlins are going for the sweep.
Chris Volstad takes the mound for the Marlins. Volstad really did pitch pretty well in his last outing making only one major mistake when he gave up a two-run home run. Naturally, the Marlins offense came through in their usual fashion in a Volstad start by not scoring a run. None. Nada. Zilch. Volstad has pitched well against the Mets in the past but has a losing record to show for his efforts. Can you guess why?
Mike Pelfrey is on the hill for the Mets. Pelfrey has put together some good starts this year, but most of them have come at home. Not to jinx anything but Pelfrey has lost his last six decisions when facing the Fish. This will be his first start against Florida this season.
Ichthyomancy has its broom handy and would love to see a sweep.
Best of Luck to You!

Also
Stanton needs to use different bats… They keep breaking!

Surprised the Mets aren't killing us!
We are doing everything to throw the game away. Our defense is painful.
What's more frustrating than being a Marlins and Orioles fan? Eye surgery???
The Marlins are an interesting contradiction
Sometimes we play like real pros, and other times it might as well be the “Marlins Comedy of Errors Hour.”

Yeah
These guys don’t even seem to care there’s a game going on anymore

We have 4 ERRORS!
We have just about handed the Mets this game!
If we didn’t know better, one could be mistaken for thinking some of our guys have been paid to throw the game. How on earth can we make 4 errors in 1 game?

Hey, yet another effective Jose Veras appearance
Take what victories you can get, I suppose!
Chris Coghlan is NLRoY 2009 (that's a +1 for me!)
And way to hit Gaby!
The top of our lineup has been terrific the past week or so!
Chris Coghlan is NLRoY 2009 (that's a +1 for me!)
As do I, Grit #2 just knew how to come through in a pinch...
Chris Coghlan is NLRoY 2009 (that's a +1 for me!)
Good news is the offense has been good lately!
Bad news is the bullpen still has issues…
Chris Coghlan is NLRoY 2009 (that's a +1 for me!)
Bullpen is bad....
…but it wasnt so much our Bullpen that hurt us tonite, it was the sloppy Defense that really killed us.
"Don’t do drugs, don’t have unprotected sex, don’t be violent. Leave that to me." - Eminem
Its call..
Having 17 hits..
and 4 errors
I will see the Dolphins win a SUPER BOWL before i die(23 years and counting)
Defense was to blame, not the bull pen.
Our bull pen did not pitch any different, what lost it was the defense. Absolutely atrocious defense. Those 4 errors are a new low for us.
