Florida Marlins?

Why don't the sports writers and other people other than the fans take the Marlins seriously? Even the local TV sports News guys do not stand behind the local team. The Marlins have great talent with low pay and a lot of heart. The only suggestion that I would have for the franchise is to remember that they do have a large amount of English speaking fans. Super Saturdays has 8 out of 10 Latin artists. The new stadium is being built in little Havana, but the National language is still English. Lets try just a little to cater to the non Latin Community also.

Sad....

What local sports writers don’t stand behind them?

and are you serious with catering to the "non Latin Community? South Florida is predominantly Latin and there for we acknowledge that those are the people that would be coming in. ANNDD your complaining that the stadiums in little havana…who cares where it is, were getting a new stadium, be happy. Normally if I dont agree with a blog I’d just ignore but this is not the first time Ive heard of this and it’s just dumb. I cant believe someone agrees with you too…but..to end off on a good note..nice to see the bats come alive today huh

although i wish we could...

it just makes sense to cater to the latin community.

i go to a lot of game, i make it to every series at the very least. i must say, there are far less of us “white” people than those of spanish heritage. without them, our team would be moved because the stadium just wouldn’t make enough money. sad but true.

the fish have been around awhile now, and the orgainzation has given the “non-latin” promotion a try, now they are trying to get more latin fans to come out because they must.

i personally dont mind, if your a marlin fan, your good in my book.

lets also remember, i am a young fan, only 21. but my age group is the one that grew up on the marlins. Since we started in ’97. as my age group grows and has children, we will have new generation of marlins fans. so hopefully we are still a growing franchise, in more ways than one.

Nothing wrong...

I agree with “alwaysafan” Im also around 20 and I was born here so I grew up with my Marlins. When I get older and have children you can be sure that they will be Marlins fans because they usually follow their parents. This will also happen around the country as First Generation Marlin fans teach their children to Love the Marlins. Also, the new stadium is gonna be huge boost because believe those day games are very HOT, and its gonna be such a nice atmosphere, I cant Wait!

Also, about the catering to Latin people, there is nothing wrong with that because if you know anything about South Florida and Miami area you know it is a vast majority of Hispanic people. So the Marlins are just catering to the majority.
