So, how much longer does Bonifacio have to play like this...
…before we have to seriously consider giving him a starting spot? I mean, I’m, not saying he’s there yet. And we’ve definitely seen him get this hot before — in the regular season, no less. (Against the Nationals, though. That’s kind of like spring training.)
I mean, IS there anything (short of an injury to another player) that will put him in the mix for a starting spot? If he keeps hitting near .400 through spring training as a whole, don’t we at least have to consider the possibility that he’s developed into a starter? (Expecially if, say, Cantu doesn’t start earning his spot?)
I mean, again, I understand spring training predicts nothing about nothing. And even if Bonifacio “earns” the job, it might be easier/safer to put him into the utility IF position he HAS earned and see if he can carry his hitting over to the regular season.
