Game(s) Today
GAME 1 - 10:00 AM
The Marlins prepped for their regular season home games by being rained out against the Orioles yesterday, so they're playing a 7-inning "B" game today in Sarasota. Sean West will start the "B" game for the Fish, and it looks like John Baker is in the lineup for the first time this spring, as the DH. Former Fish Mark Hendrickson will take the hill for the Orioles.
In back of West, the Marlins will get some work for Dan Meyer, Brian Sanches, Burke Badenhop and Jose Veras in the "B" game. Hitters slated to play in the game include Mike Stanton, Jai Miller, Scott Cousins, Mike Lamb, Jorge Jimenez, Donnie Murphy, Brett Hayes and John Baker.
GAME 2 - 1:05 PM
Ricky Nolasco will start today's game against the Rays in Port Charlotte, and will be followed by Andrew Miller, who was scheduled to start in yesterday's rainout. Derrick Turnbow will pitch in the game for Florida as well. Matt Garza is on tap for Tampa Bay.
Lineup:

Seven walks in 1.2 innings...
via twitter: JCRMarlinsbeat – Sean West in ‘B’ game at Sarasota: 1.2 innings, 7 walks. 60 pitches, 24 strikes
Yikes... bad news for Sean.
Though I feel like he still needs some seasoning, to be honest.
So… how do you folks feel about the rotation? I’m guessing VandenHurk has a good shot at a spot, but that’s the only one I really feel strongly about (after JJ and Ricky, of course.)
I’ve got this horrible feeling Hayden Penn will somehow manage to hang on to the no. 5 role if he doesn’t self-destruct and a couple more guys don’t start earning their spots. He’s obviously not the best pitcher, and I think the Marlins know that, but given that he’s out of options, it’s really a last-chance kind of situation for Penn. If West (or Volstad, or Miller) needs some more time to get into major-league form, they can send them down to AAA and bring them up. Whereas Penn has to prove something pretty soon, and if he doesn’t, he’s way more expendable than any of the other candidates.
That much having been said, if he does ANYTHING at the expense of VandenHurk or Badenhop, I will NOT be happy.
Bass is a kind of fish.

Goes Yard! That makes his third during Spring Training. I guess that new approach to the plate is working out for him.
Huh... maybe I misjudged him.
I mean, it is spring training, but if that power finally translates from AAA this year, he could be…
…well, he could be a lot like Cody Ross, really.
