What this does is remove him from the 40-man roster, it is no big deal. Once he returns, plays a little bit in the minors and shows that he is healthy, he can and probably will return to the 40-man. Also it means the Marlins don't think he will be ready by spring training. Open slots on the 40-man are important heading into the offseason transactions period.
