Marlins sign Josh Johnson to 4-year extension!!!!
YES!!!! The Marlins finally got it done today, locking up JJ to a 4-year extension worth $39 million. That is right around the same amount that Zack Greinke got the year before he won the Cy Young. I'm pretty sure that JJ was looking for the same kind of deal that Greinke got, so it looks like all sides will be very happy with this deal.
Now the Marlins have Hanley and JJ locked up and can build a team around them, but the important thing is that both of our superstars will be in (Miami) Marlins uniforms when we open the new stadium in 2012. The timing couldn't have been more predictable after the MLB and MLBPA ruled yesterday that the Fish had to spend more $$.

I'm glad the FO realized this definitely needed to be done
We don’t have a lot of upside out of our prospect arms so it’s great to know we’ll have a true no.1 starter out of JJ through 2013. The future definitely looks a lot brighter now.
Salary by year
2010: $3.75m
2011: $7.75m
2012: $13.75m
2013: $13.75m
I think it’s good we back loaded it since our payroll (hopefully) should be a lot higher in the first couple of stadium years.
JJ returns, hopefully to another great year!
Chris Coghlan is NLRoY (that's a +1 for me!)
Miami Dolphins are headed back to the Playoffs (fail...)
Wants to see Mardy Gilyard in a Dolphins uniform next season, make it happen Parcells!

YEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!
“My No. 1 goal was to stay here,” Johnson said in a phone interview on Thursday. “I wanted to stay here longer than one or two years. This means everything to me, to know that I’m going to be a Marlin, [that] I’m going to be there for the opening of the new stadium.”
That’s great to hear… GO FISH!!!!
Makes him an even more attractive trade target, much like Hanley’s deal. Everyone in baseball will want him for that.
Go Nevada Wolf Pack!

Contract
Great backloaded contract. They can keep him for 2 years, and then deal him when his contract skyrockets! Great move by the Fish.
