The Zephyrs Reception

Logan Morrison has been added as one of the dignitaries for the Zephyrs Reception.

Florida Marlins top prospect and Slidell native Logan Morrison has been added to the guest list for the annual "Evening With The Zephyrs" cocktail reception, being held Thursday, January 21st at Rosy's Jazz Hall from 7-9 p.m.

Morrison, a first baseman in the Marlins system, was ranked 18th in Baseball America's 2009 rankings of the top 100 prospects in baseball. In the midseason rankings, released in July, Morrison had risen to 10th.

---

Fans can meet Morrison, along with Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington, former World Series-winning manager Jack McKeon, and more guests at "Evening With The Zephyrs." Tickets are $30 per person, or $100 for a group of four. The ticket price includes food and drink for all guests, and The Regg Sanders Jazz Trio will be on hand to provide musical entertainment.

For more information or for tickets, contact the Zephyrs at (504) 734-5155.

So if you find yourself in the New Orleans area on January 21st, check it out.  No place throws a cocktail party quite like New Orleans.  Though I'm guessing some folks in South Beach or Key West might care to differ.  And while you are there ask Ron Washington if he is available to give a few infield defensive tips to the Marlins.  It can't hurt.

I’m so disappointed that the Zephyrs only make it out West here every other year. Going to miss all of this years AA players next year.

Ironic

considering Morrison is going to have all the chances in the world to make the big league roster this spring, and thus never swing a bat for the Zephyrs.
