Chum Bucket

Seeing how the Marlins are taking the day off, and somehow college football has taken the stage, I thought I would post this.

Tonight's game, if you care anything about it, is Miami v. FSU.

If you would like to comment on the game, feel to do so here, or go to one of the above linked sites.  The game starts at 8:00 p.m.

If you don't want to talk about college football, that is cool.  Talk about anything that comes to your mind.  After all that is what a Chum Bucket is all about.

In the meantime enjoy the holiday, that is what we have them for.

So, 5 1/2 games out of the Wild Card

Does anyone think the Fish are making the post-season?

I've been away from the computer for a couple days

but was under the impression that loss was all Kiko/Nunez. Based on the box score

BULL SHI*T

Another game Pinto blows. He isn’t work the major league minimum to any team but the ones he rock him.

Also, go Canes.

on August, 16, Pinto had a 2.42 ERA.

Since then, he’s given up 8 ER in 9 1/3 IP.

On the season, he’s given up a whopping 44 hits and 40 walks in only 53 IP. He’s a baserunner machine.

Will they have anyone to really replace him next year...

A cheap (under 1 million bucks), league average lefty workhorse that can be counted on for about 50-60 innings?

Can Meyer step into that role next year with Tankersely being used solely as a LOOGY?

Is Meyer even under contract for next year?

I know we claimed him off waivers from Oakland, but I don’t what his contract status is. If he is here, they’re still going to need another lefty…they’d be dead in the water if they have only one reliable lefty and a LOOGY (assuming Tankersley was even capable of that).

I have faith in Beinfest and Co. that they’ll be able to do something with the bullpen. Year after year, they always find hidden treasure for the pen—Kiko this year, Joe Nelson last year, and of course their trademark off-the-scrap-heap closers.

I don't think Meyer's arbitration eligible until after next season

So, he’s penciled in barring injury/trade.

I think Tank, outside of injury, started imploding when he was used as something besides a LOOGY. So, there’s a glimmer of hope there. Between him and possibly converting VandenHurk to a relief arm, it looks like Pinto + scrap-heap lefties to the rescue.

First college football game I’ve ever seen- really enjoyed it, and can now add the Hurricanes to my list of Miami-based sports teams :)
