Chris Coghlan makes the Topps Red Hot Rookie
Chris Coghlan's rookie season is to be honored in cardboard by Topps.
Topps announced the 10th and final Red Hot Rookie redemption card for 2009, and it’s Florida Marlins outfielder Chris Coghlan.
He’s hit .296 with nine homers and 38 RBIs in 96 games this season.
The redemption cards can be found one per Topps Series 2 hobby box and can be redeemed at www.topps.com/redemption.
Not sure what a redemption card is. I'm guessing if you find one you have to contact Topps to get the real thing. Maybe 30-year Old Cardboard will stumble by and clue us in. He knows all about this stuff.
Oh, btw, if you click on the link, the picture on the card is pretty cool. While Coghlan isn't exactly known for his defense, but he is getting better in a hurry, it is still a good shot.

redemption cards
Here is how it works: The card company does not decide who is going to be on the card until well after the packs are out in the markteplace. They insert a redemption card into the packs that can be redeemed for a ‘card to be named later’. This used to be done through the mail, but has been updated to online redemption within the last several years.
