Bad Night for Jeremy Hermida
It seems the folks in the open thread weren't the only ones to notice that Jeremy Hermida was basically stinking up the joint.
From Fish Bytes.
From Marlins Die-Hards.
In case you click on the above link, the picture isn't quite correct in that he left more men on base than that.
Definitely a night to forget for Hermida and any of his fans out there.
Sadly when you play 162, it happens. But that doesn't make it any more comforting to the fans.

Which is hilarious
Because I can’t count the number of times I’ve seen him gun down somebody at the plate.

Should have traded him last week.
Jeremy needs a change, a la Jeff Francoeur, who has found new life with the Mets. I’d rather see Brett Carroll anyway. He seems to give a shit.

Alas, it's all dollars and sense
Loria would rather save money than win the World Series – we all new this. Courtesy of MLB Trade Rumors…
Cameron Maybin and Travis Snider could set themselves up for Super Two status if they spend enough time in the major leagues before the end of the season. We can assume that the Marlins and Blue Jays are watching the calendar as they decide if and when to call on their respective outfield prospects.
Maybin has a career-low strikeout rate and a lofty .328/.415/.471 line at Triple A. He needs 35 more days of service time this year to have a good chance at Super Two status after 2011. If the Marlins call him up before September, there’s a real possibility they’ll have to go to arbitration with Maybin four times, which could cost the organization millions.

Coughlin said it best
When he announced the starting lineup for Sunday’s game on TV, he called Hermida “One speed”. Can’t field, no clutch hitting, no hustle. Get him out of here, please!!!

Nicely said!!
Get rid of him if not at least take him out of the starting lineup!! This is a crucial time in the season…. make the move NOW!!

I know nobody wants to hear it (or believe it)
But Hermida had the highest Clutchiness score on the Marlins last season and is behind only Gritty Gload this year. I know last night is going to be for fans’ perception of Hermida’s clutch hitting what the All-Star Game was for the nation’s perception of Uggla’s fielding, but facts is facts: over the last season and a half, no Marlin has out-performed his seasonal hitting in higher leverage situations than Jeremy Hermida.

is this the "clutch" stat you're using?
The specific formula is Hits with RISP minus overall BA times at bats with RISP, plus HR with runners on minus (all HR/AB) times at bats with runners on. This stat is not a definitive description of “clutch hitting,” just one way of looking at it.

i dunno...
if Hermida’s got a good clutch score then it must come from that first-week National series.

Statistics??
Statistics are for losers! Time after time he lets the team down! Both his fielding and hitting are in a severe slump and this has been going on for a good month and a half.

It's not just last night for Hermida.
Go back to Thursday night in the 8th inning against Atlanta. Based loaded and he strikes out miserably. Then go to Saturday, where he was up TWICE with the bases loaded….grounded out in the 1st inning and then struck out later. So counting last night, in his last 4 times up with the bases loaded, he’s 0-4 with 3 strike outs.

Jeremy Hermida
I have watched the Marlins since day one and Hermida continues to disappoint! He lets too many balls drop in front of him for hits and several soar over his head for doubles. He seems to not be able to quickly pick up the ball and make rapid adjustments necessary to play left field. He is a terrible hitter with runners in scoring position… swings at pitches in the dirt and looks at third stirkes…………… yuk get rid of him already.
